SoluShim Water Soluble Alignment Sticks are the most advanced method for maintaining precise gaps on pipes, plates and flanges as required by AWS codes D1.1 thru D1.6, and API 1101 pipe codes. Made from EPA approved Aquasol Water Soluble Board, SoluShim is uniform in size and thickness. This guarantees a perfect alignment every time, greatly enhancing a welder’s efficiency, while saving time and money.
Root gaps are conventionally formed via the use of filler rods. Composed of foreign metals incompatible with the base metals to be welded, welding rods are non-uniform in size and thickness. These rods must be tack welded directly to the base metals. Removal of the rods requires the use of mechanical grinding or torch cutting, costly and labor intensive methods. Additionally, rods can leave trace elements that can contaminate the weld area.
Made of EPA-approved Aquasol Water Soluble Board, SoluShim is compatible with any metal. SoluShim will begin dissolving instantly with water, allowing the sticks to be easily pulled out of the welding fit up, leaving behind no harmful residue, unlike metal alignment spacers.
