Instruction for Use
To ensure consistent results the following operational procedures should be adhered to.
Preparation
- Connect wires to the pull loops on the end of the bladders. This will enable speedy removal.
- Attach argon intake hose to a regulated gas supply.
- Insert the inflatable bladder system through the pipe until the bladders are of equal distance from the root gap. (Align the reflective strip with the weld joint to center the bladders.)
- Initially, open the gas flow-meter between 10–15 CFH (5-8 LPM) to inflate the bladders and upwards to 30 CFH (15 LPM) during operation. WARNING: Maximum flow rate should not exceed 30 CFH (15 LPM).
Purging
- Once the preset pressure level is reached and the bladders are inflated (approximately 1-3 minutes depending on size), the relief valve will open and introduce noble gas into the weld zone. The low flow rate of noble gas released from the valve will quickly purge the weld zone to the desired level of oxygen.
Note: Monitor oxygen level with OX™100X Oxygen Weld Purge Monitor to ensure best results.
- Once desired oxygen level has been obtained, begin welding.
Removal
- When welding is completed, allow the weld zone proper time to cool.
- To quickly deflate the bladders, disconnect the gas hose from the unit or turn off the gas supply.
- Once I-Purge is deflated (approximately 15 – 30 seconds), simply pull on the wires to remove from the pipe.
